چکیده
Swift, P. G. F., Worthy, E., and Emery, J. L. (1974). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 49, 680. Biochemical state of the vitreous humour of infants at necropsy. Biochemical analysis of the vitreous humour in 80 infants brought to necropsy, including 18 in whom terminal plasma levels were known, indicates that sodium and urea levels closely reflect ante-mortem plasma values. With increasing time, post-mortem vitreous sodium and glucose concentrations diminish, whereas urea and magnesium rise. Vitreous magnesium levels are age related. Chemical analysis of vitreous humour is thus a valid adjunct to the post-mortem examination and may be important in the study of unexpected deaths in infancy.

A new look at vitreous-humour collagen.
The collagens of bovine vitreous-humour and nasal-septum cartilage have been extracted, fractionated and compared. Both tissues show the same heterogeneity of collagen types, consisting of type II, 1 alpha, 2 alpha, 3 alpha and C-PS collagens. The type II collagen of the vitreous humour was significantly more hydroxylated both in the lysine and proline residues than was that of cartilage. C-PS1...
متن کاملThe chemical composition of bovine vitreous-humour collagen fibres.
The insoluble protein fraction was prepared from the central and posterior peripheral fraction of bovine vitreous humour. The collagen present in this fraction was solubilized by pepsin and fractionated by gel chromatography. Analysis of the solubilized collagen fractions showed that the alpha-chain component had an amino acid composition and yielded a series of CNBr-cleavage peptides that show...
متن کاملPresence of a soluble form of acetylcholinesterase in human ocular fluids.
Samples of ocular fluid obtained from normal persons at necropsy and during eye surgery have been assayed for the presence of acetylcholinesterase. Measurable levels could be detected in all samples examined, but levels of acetylcholinesterase in vitreous humour were consistently higher than those in aqueous humour, indicating a possible retinal origin. Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis reveal...

Emery, J. L., Swift, P. G. F., and Worthy, E. (1974). Archives of Disease in Childhood, 49, 686. Hypernatraemia and uraemia in unexpected death in infancy. The electrolyte concentration of the vitreous humour of the eye in a consecutive series of 40 infants dying unexpectedly at home was measured. In 25 of these infants no morbid anatomical cause of death was found, but in half of these infants...
متن کاملThe effect of hyaluronidase injection on the vitreous humour of the rabbit.
THE effect of hyaluronidase injections on the slit-lamp appearance and the composition of the vitreous humour of the rabbit has been examinfed. The purpose of the experiments has been to see whether disaggregation of hyaluronic acid from a viscous to a non-viscous form in the vitreous humour is a permanent change and whether any visible change persists as a result of hyaluronidase action. Very ...
